Monday Morning at 8

Now listen here all my gals and pals
I wanna tell ya'll a tale of a rabbit named Jack and a no named snail
Every Monday at 8 they would meet at the gate
Gearing up for the towns race which many called "The Week"

The odds were always at a high with all the on- lookers and passer-bys
Tossing there lunch money at Jack the Rabbits feet
The snail, who's name didn't matter to humanity, stretched his head above his shell
Not letting life's expectations bring him down
He was nothing cool or fancy, he wasn't even banty
But he would still get up every Monday morning with a smile on his face
Waiting to compete in the impossible race
Mondays at 8 came and went with the winners taking home their share of their risk less bets
Jack the Rabbit was known as the best there was across the land
Winning the honors of each week at hand
While others grew angry at Jack's god sent gift
The snail with no name stretched out his head waiting on Monday morning at 7:56
dingy ding ding ding ding ding Dong DiNg DoNg DINg DoNG
A year passed by, then a second, a third, and a forth
Jack the Rabbit was growing weary of always being first
And with the snail with no name's smile etched into Jack the Rabbits face
He began to feel furry and worry about the snail's capabilities
"Why was a nobody like him facing a somebody like me!?"
Jack the Rabbit announced his last race on his 400th week.
Funny, for it was The Snails 400th that he would also seek
The betters bet and the winners wept for their champion was calling it quits
"At such a young age," they thought." "The prime of his years!"
The bell rang out across the town and the two foes began their familiar trip.

The results were in and Jack the Rabbit had completed an immaculate career with a win
The crowd cherished and immortalized Jack and his flawless feat
As the snail went home and rested his feet

Monday morning at 7:56 there stood the snail with no name
With no one around him but him and his win less shame
The crowd of on-lookers and passer-bys began to stop and gaze upon its carefree smile
Once oblivious to motion less stares, the snail sunk its head down below its chest with discomfort and fear
And what happened next would bring the snail with no name to tears
Applause and plaudits gave the town an underdog sensation
that it's been lacking for years
As they cheered the snail with no name and its determination
For who needs 400 wins when you have 1 with a story and a song
And from then on the race that was once called "The Week" was renamed after the snail "The Strong"
