Porch Nights

Rest your head on my shoulder
And I'll rest mine on your head
Like a puzzle piece we sit together and watch on a porch bed
Soon growing accustom to our scents and curves
Boy, she gives me chills just by gracing the tip of her nose across my neck
The wood planks beneath us decide to warm up knowing that we aren't going anywhere soon
The moon keeps us chilly enough to move closer and closer
My eyes are her passenger and her finger is there to steer
She points out the fresh green fields that wiggle and giggle at us
But we just sway back to them to the rhythm of our song
We take turns whispering it into each others ears
"Ohhhhhhh sweet darling, you get the best of my love"
We make a pact to make this our spot throughout the years
She keeps telling me that she likes me and my response is always "How much?"
She stretches her arms to her sides
And wraps them around my neck "This much"
She gets up to turn off the light
And stumbles back 'til she finds my touch
"Look up"
I stand to my feet
Her eyes are always something that I seek
"Hold me close"
Until we feel our breath on each others cheeks
We dance to the longest hug
And the night will go down in history
As the night that she got the best of my love
